About Kilby Genealogy.com

Kilby Genealogy started life as an on line resource for the descendants of John Kilby of Bromfield Parish (located in Culpeper County), Virginia.  Craig Kilby and Herb Kilby put their heads together and placed a static site created from a gedcom at Rootsweb.

As time moved on, other descendant lines of Kilbys were added to the site.  With the addition of these lines, the site started to become unwieldy when it came to trying to keep it up to date.  Another method of generating the web content was found in a program that provided an on line database.  Unfortuately, Rootsweb does not accomodate websites that are anything but static web pages; hence, we moved to a commercial server.

An attempt was made to include a bulleting board to facilitate communication.  If you have visited this site in the past, you will have seen just what a disappointment that was.  To compound the problem, the forum software used was an open source (free) bulletin board and presented all kinds of security problems.

We have now refocussed our effort by providing the genealogical data and some periferial information only.  The social networking has been moved to ... well FaceBook's social networking platform:  Kilby Genealogy Page and Kilby Genealogy Group.
