252	[82139.ftw] Pip left school at 14 and went to work for a Mr Mellor at Rottingdean,East Sussex as a brooder boy on the chicken farm. By 21 he had becomemanager. He was a great favourite of Mr Mellor and had the SecondWorld War not happened there was a good chance that he would haveinherited the farm. However that was not to be as the farm wasdestroyed during the war and the land was sold off after the war for ahousing estate. Pip and his family moved to Scotland for a while, then moved to Buxtedwhere Margaret died in 1952. Pip then went to Kenya to work with hisfirst cousin John Nazer (q.v.), on Longonot Farm, Naivasha. On theboat out to Kenya he met a young Kenyan girl, Barbara Forrester whowas returning to Kenya after completing her nursing training.
